Vice President, Corporate Governance
On board in June 2014 as Vice President of Corporate Governance, she is currently responsible for all compliance, accounting, legal and regulatory requirements while working in partnership with the Board to ensure mission statement and strategic goals are being met.
As one of few female senior executives in the hydro power generation industry, Marlene brings to the role more than 25 years of global experience in public leadership, strategy, corporate governance and fiscal responsibility. Marlene is responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with key stakeholder’s thereby ensuring social responsibility.
Prior to joining Hydro Power Technologies Inc. (HPT) Marlene co-developed and led three start-ups to work out businesses in the mining, technology and merger/acquisitions sectors, Sinaloa Gold Corp., Online Innovation Inc. and Moventis Capital Inc., respectively. Where she held senior roles within corporate finance, regulatory compliance, capital raising transactions, and corporate resources.
Marlene maintains professional association with Women’s Executive Network WXN and BC Teacher Regulations Board (Formerly BC College of Teachers) and retained licensing with Canadian Securities Institute, Series 7 and 63 Licenses (NASD) US Stockbroker Exam, Insurance Council of British Columbia, Mutual Fund Dealers Association and Real Estate Council of British Columbia through Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia.
Marlene holds a Bachelor of Education (B Ed.) (Economics) from Simon Fraser University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of British Columbia.
